Description of Tramadol

“Tramadol hydrochloride is a white, bitter, crystalline and odorless powder. It is readily soluble in water, so the pill should be taken by mouth with water.

Inactive ingredients in Tramadol are corn starch, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, lactose, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, polyethylene glycol, polysorbate 80, sodium starch glycolate, titanium dioxide and wax.”

Proper storage of tramadol is in a controlled room temperature of 50o F to 80o F in a tight container.

Tramadol comes in doses/tablets of 50mg and 100mg, and is generally taken when in need of a pain medication. Tramadol is also used as a substitute for narcotics users when waving off certain prescribed medications such as oxycontin, hydrocodone, and codeine. Patients generally use this medication for the relief of sharp pain in the body and horrible muscle cramps. Always consult a physician before taking Tramadol because it may cause serious injury to your body depending on one’s condition of health. Taking too much Tramadol at one time can result to death.

CONCERNS WITH TRAMADOL:

Using tramadol slows down your metabolism and patients with advanced cirrhosis of the liver are not recommended due to health reasons, but M1 is reduced for that reason. Never take tramadol when operating a motor vehicle or heavy machinery. Tramadol does effect or may impair mental or physical abilities required to stay in control of large mechanics. Narcotic users and high dosage users fall into the category that is extremely dangerous to take Tramadol and have a higher chance of going into a seizure. Nursing Mothers using tramadol is not recommended for obstetrical preoperative medication or for post-delivery in nursing mothers because its safety in infants/newborns has not been tested.

STUDIES REPORTED:

Studies have been done in China for bone marrow micronucleus tests in mice and Chinese hamsters. Results have been narrowed down by the presence of metabolic activation in the mouse lymphoma and micronucleus test in rats.

Evidence found from tests using tramadol in animals indicates that “tramadol does not pose a geno-toxic risk to human-potentially hazardous tasks such as driving a car or operating machinery.” There were no signs of effects on fertility observed for tramadol with an oral dose of levels up to 50mg. Women using tramadol who are breastfeeding should be cautious, because one pill of 100mg can stay in a women’s breast milk for up to 16 hours. Make sure to always consult a physician to get appropriate dosage of tramadol.

• Headache
• Pruritus
• Dizziness/Vertigo
• Dry Mouth
• Urinary frequency
• Menopausal symptoms
• Skin rash
• Respiratory problems
• Anorexia
• Gastrointestinal Abdominal pain
• Extensive sweating
• Musculoskeletal Hypertonia
