HOW TO USE:
This medication comes in pill form and is taken by mouth as needed between four hours and one-half hour before sexual activity, however for best effectiveness take about one hour before sexual activity. Take only as directed by your physician, usually once daily as needed. This medication works along with sexual stimulation to help achieve an erection.
SIDE EFFECTS:
There are some common side effects related to this medication such as, headache, flushing, stomach upset, nasal stuffiness, diarrhea and dizziness might occur. While normally these side effects do not require medical attention, if these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor promptly. These side effects are rare but contact your doctor promptly if you experience: painful or other urination problems, vision problems, skin rash. While very unlikely but notify your doctor promptly if you experience: chest pain, fainting, foot or ankle swelling; or if you experience a painful or prolonged erection lasting longer than 4 hours, stop using this drug and seek immediate medical attention. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS:
Before using this drug, tell your doctor about your entire medical history, including: allergies (especially drug allergies), penis conditions such as fibrosis or scarring such as, Peyronie's disease, history of painful or prolonged erection (priapism), sickle cell anemia, blood system cancers (such as leukemia or myeloma), eye problems (retina diseases), kidney or liver disease, bleeding disorders, active stomach ulcers, heart disease, stroke, very high or low blood pressure. It is important to limit alcohol intake, as it may aggravate side effects of this drug. Caution is advised while participating in activities that require mental alertness such as driving, since this drug may cause dizziness. To avoid dizziness and lightheadedness when rising from a seated or lying position, get up slowly. This drug is not to be used in women or children. Elderly should use caution when taking this medication because they may be more sensitive to the side effects of this drug.
DRUG INTERACTIONS:
Always tell your doctor of all nonprescription and prescription medication you may use, especially of: nitrate medications (e.g., nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate), nitroprusside (any "nitric oxide donor" medicines), cimetidine, erythromycin, azole antifungals (e.g., itraconazole, ketoconazole), mibefradil, rifamycins (e.g., rifampin), high blood pressure medicines, certain HIV protease inhibitors (such as saquinavir, ritonavir, and amprenavir), and delavirdine. Never start or stop any medicine without first seeking approval of your doctor.
OVERDOSE:
Contact your local emergency room or poison control center if an overdose is suspected. immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include severe dizziness, fainting, or prolonged erection.
NOTES:
Never share this or any of your prescription medication with others, since they may have a problem that is not effectively treated by this drug. It is always vital to remember that use of this drug does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases (e.g., HIV, Hepatitis B, gonorrhea, syphilis) or pregnancy.
STORAGE:
This medication should be stored at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F or 15 and 30 degrees C away from light and moisture. It is not recommended to store this medication in the bathroom.
