How to Use:

This medication is taken in tablet form by mouth. It is vital that you follow the directions on the prescription label. Each dose should be swallowed whole with a full glass of water, and can be taken with or without food depending on personal preference. Always take doses at regular intervals, and do not take more often than directed. It is important to always finish the full course of medication whether you are feeling better or not. Unless directed by a physician, do not stop taking this medication until the course is complete.

Side Effects:

The most common side effect of this medication is: stomach upset, nausea, trouble sleeping cold symptoms, or headache. If these symptoms persist or become bothersome contact your physician. Contact your doctor immediately if any of these rare side effects occur such as, mental or mood changes, fever, fast heartbeat, or dizziness. While serious side effects are very rare it is important to contact your doctor immediately if you experience: irregular heartbeat or fainting. Drowsiness may occur while taking this medication, although rare at usual dosages and under normal circumstances. Drowsiness will affect your ability to stay alert and certain activities such as driving or operating heavy machinery should be avoided. If you have any side effects that are not listed above contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Drug Interactions:

It is extremely important to tell your physician about all medication you are taking including prescriptions, non-prescriptions, nutritional supplements, or herbal products. Also inform your doctor if you frequently drink caffeinated beverages or alcohol; smoke; or use illegal drugs. All of these things may effect how your medication works. It is always important to not stop or start any medication without first speaking with a health care professional. Consult your doctor if you are currently taking any medications including: astemizole; antacids; digoxin; ergotamine; dihydroegotamine; magnesium salts; triazolam; terfenadine; and warfarin.

Overdose:

In the event that an overdose is suspected contact your local emergency room or poison control center immediately. Common symptoms of an overdose include unusual nervousness or excitement, confusion, irregular or unusually slow or fast heartbeat, rapid breathing, hallucinations, and seizures.

Notes:

It is important to avoid the sun or wear protective clothing and sunscreen when participating in outdoor activities. It is also important to avoid sun lamps and tanning beds or booths.

Missed Dose:

In the event that you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If you do not remember before it is close to the next dose, then simply skip it and resume taking as scheduled. It is important never to “double-up” on this medication. There should always be twelve hours in between doses.

Storage:

Always keep any medication out of reach of children. This medication needs to be stored at room temperature, and away from sunlight or moisture. The best temperature should be around 68 and 77 degrees Fahrenheit and 20 to 25 degrees Celsius. It is important to discard any medication that has expired.
